Why is it advisable to use hot water when preparing coffee? Once the coffee beans have been dried, processed and converted into powder, using cold water should not make a difference. However, you must understand that the coffee drink is not just something that caters your taste but also something that caters your mind.

Whenever people think of coffee, they think of something hot and something refreshing. Of course, if you are making cold coffee, you would add cold milk to the entire drink so that you have a chilling and refreshing drink.

However, when you are making the mix that is used as the base for making coffee, it is advisable to use hot water. The earliest coffee brew was prepared when somebody dropped the seeds into hot water and discovered that the water changed and became colored and obtained an aroma or smell of its own.

From that point onwards, hot water has been pretty much the standard as far as coffee is concern. Use of hot water is advisable in terms of health and hygiene as well. When you boil water and raise its temperature, all the germs and harmful substances in the water will automatically be destroyed.

This means that black coffee without milk is probably the safest drink when you are traveling around. This is because it contains nothing but hot boiled water and the coffee powder. As long as the base is stored properly, there is no question of any bacteria or other harmful substance being present in the same.

If you mix cold milk, it is obviously going to reduce the temperature of the entire drink. Hence, if you want coffee with milk, you should boil or heat the milk so that the entire drink tastes hot and refreshing.

Finally, there is no doubt that the use of hot water along with the powder extracts maximum aroma. If you have any doubts, just dip a spoonful of coffee powder into a glass full of cold water and then repeat this process with warm water. You will realize that the latter option offers more aromatic and delicious drink.

For all practical purposes, use of hot boiling water is the smartest option. Whether you use a percolator to heat the water or whether you make use of plain old stove-the choice is yours. Irrespective of the brand of coffee you use, use of boiling hot water is always a smart move.
